Belated Family Valentine’s Date

Valentine’s Day this year was on a Thursday, then on Friday my eldest wasn’t feeling well and my hubby had plans with some friends, so we had to wait until the weekend to celebrate our family Valentine’s Date.

We did so by going to Puerto Alegre.

Puerto Alegre San Francisco

This is our favorite family restaurant and we go there a lot because we all love it.

It’s been open since the early 70s.

I’ve been going there since the early 90s before I met my husband and WAY before I was even considering having children.

I’ve written about Puerto Alegre before.

I’ve even shared artwork that I saw there while eating.

In a city like San Francisco, where so many businesses come and go in the blink of an eye, it’s wonderful to have a go-to place that you can keep going to through different stages of your life. I hope it never goes away.

Also, can I just say that I love celebrating Valentine’s Day as a family? I realize that so many people consider it a romantic holiday, but I like to think of it as a holiday that celebrates love. I love my family so dang much that why wouldn’t I want to celebrate with them?

In case you’re wondering, my husband and I also had a solo celebration and it was wonderful.
