Fragmented Fridays

WordPress came out with a new version (3.2) and it is giving me problems with images. I can upload them, but I can’t seem to put them in my post. I’m having to work around this by using LiveWriter to upload the images. Technical glitches can be such a bummer, but I’m sure they will work it out and if they don’t I guess I’ll have to revert to an older version.

Technology is such a big part of my life. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad.

It seems crazy to me now that I got through college with a word processor and library card.

My daughter, Put Pie, is a wiz at using my iPhone. It’s nutty. She can figure out how to do things on it that I can’t  and she’s not even 3 yet. When I was asked if I would be interested in receiving a complimentary copy of the app “This Is My Story (And I’m Sticking To It)”, I thought why not? It’s one more thing to put on my phone that will keep my kid occupied when need be and perhaps be educational.

I let her play with it and she was able to make a silly simple story that she could listen to out loud. Her favorite part seemed to be Sticker Page Fun and she somehow figured out how to save the following sticker page that she made into my Photos folder.

photoI asked her if she liked it and she said, “Yeah.” So my daughter gives it a positive review. I think she’s still a bit young for it and will enjoy it more as she gets older.
We received a complimentary copy of the app to facilitate this review. No other compensation was received. The app was used by my almost 3 year old and the review is based on her opinions.

And now your Friday Fortune Cookie (don’t forget to add “in bed” at the end, if you are so inclined):

I find technology to be exciting and frustrating at the same time!  I wish I were more adept at using it!

I was just having that same tech discussion the other day.  It is so wonderful and convenient until it stops working how you expect it too and then it’s a big pain in the a$$!I’m not quite sure why all the blogging sites have this issues.  It doesn’t seem like it should be so hard – it’s certainly not rocket science is it!?!  Blogger has been acting up too.

I love that Put Pie is such a techno whiz!  Would you consider renting her out for brief periods?  I have threatened before to go to Rent A Kid for various tech hang-ups.

Cool – I will have to try that.  My daughter has been working my iPod Touch since she was about three and has her own now.

You forgot to add that while PutPie figured it out with ease, your 36-year-old friend could not. Very humiliating.

Did you hear of “Future Shock”?  A book published in the 70’s.  The main point that I remember was that change was accelerating and we were being overwhelmed by it.  That was before the web.  It does seem true with internet and now the smartphone app explosion.  –  oh I guess wordpress and blogger both have their bad app days.

Very cool about the app, I’ll have to tell my sister about it. Very uncool about technology being a pain. Happy Friday!

Technology is amazing when it works, a pain in the you-know-where when it does not!

The app looks cool. Will have to look for it. LOVE the fortune cookie quote. Hard to believe it came from so long ago. In light of Google+, I’d have to wonder what Einstein would say today?

I’m not really sure anyone should be using technology in bed, but yeah; he’s right.

Good luck with the WP transition 🙂

I figured it out. It was a plug in that was giving me problems. I just got rid of it and everything is fine now.
