Have a Chicano Christmas

It has become a yearly tradition that around Christmas I re-post 12 Days of Christmas Chicano Style. This was written about 3 years ago by Meeko Fabulous and myself.

Santa Claus

On the twelfth day of Christmas
my Nana gave to me
doce pork tamales,
eleven full piñatas,
ten chiles rellenos,
nine Padre Nuestros, (Our Fathers)
ocho tostadas,
seven Tias chismiando, (Aunts gossiping)
six kinds of chile,
five nalgadas (I was bad), (butt spankings)
four jalapeños,
three pairs of chanclas,
dos saladitos,
and a perico in an aguacate tree.

If I haven’t completely Christmas-ed you out, stop by Aiming Low where I posted a humorous letter to Santa. Perhaps, it will inspire you to do your own. If you do, let me know so I can read it.

Oh my goodness, this was too funny. When we are around the table making tamales this week I’m singing your song to my familia.

So cute. I think the aguacate tree is worth more than all of those things put together.

I don’t know who wrote this – a friend sent to me and, for me, it is sadly true …

    T’was the night before Christmas, i’m glued to the tree. Im wonderin what Santa, brought just for me;
… could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace? or a Cricut? i said with a smile on my face! and that’s when i heard him…”HI SANTA,” i said. ”you know good little girls should be in their beds”. i know i should Santa, and now i’ve been caught! but i was excited, to see what you brought. well, lets take a look in this room where you work. he shook his head quickly and left with a jerk! i heard him exclaim as he put it in gear… you’ve got enough crap, i’ll see you next year!  🙂
