Mexican Moms Love Sneaking Snacks Into the Movies (The Flying Chancla Report)

Mary Poppins’ bag ain’t got nothing on a Mexican mom’s purse. NOTHING! Growing up, my mami’s purse was like this sacred magical thing. I was not allowed to touch it or look inside unless she gave me permission.

I never knew what was going to come out of that thing either because it was filled with everything. If I got a cut, there was something in there for that. If I was hungry, you best believe there was some kind of snack in there. Even when it was a small purse, it was still full of everything.

Oh, and when mami took her purse to the movies, that thing was full of Mexican mom movie snacks.

I’m not gonna lie, it was embarrassing when she would bust out with the snacks in her purse because she didn’t even wait for the lights to go down. She was blatant AF. It’s like she was proud that she had a bag full of contraband. There were treats and drinks in there always, but sometimes there would be full on meals. Tamales, burritos or tortas sometimes came out of my mami’s bolsa. As embarrassing as it was for me when everyone could see, as soon as the lights would go down, I would enjoy the heck out of all the food my mami smuggled into the movie theater.

Now that I’m a grown up with kids of my own, my purse is all kinds of magic too. Especially at the movies. That’s why I laughed so hard at this video by wearemitú. It is freakin’ spot on, even the part about sharing with strangers.
