Miami Mix (Fragmented Fridays)

This week I had the pleasure of visiting Miami in honor of the Lowe’s Ideas Creativas Facebook Page launch. Can I just say that the food was SUPERB?! Every single meal I ate was a delight. Keep in mind that I live in San Francisco where the food is famed for being good. I’ll tell you what, I love SF, but I have had PLENTY of hit or miss meals, not so in Miami. Shoot even the café inside a random bookstore I went into had spectacular food. Being a woman of a certain budget, I get seriously bummed out when I spend my limited funds on subpar or just so-so prepared meals, so:

THANK YOU MIAMI FOR THE EXCELLENT GRUB!!!

I’m writing this in the Miami Airport, which does not have free wi-fi access. What’s up with that? SFO offers free wi-fi. Of course I can’t remember my roaming internet login info and you know that a woman of a certain budget who has every intention of paying for the online wifi on her 6 hour flight, is not about to pay for additional wifi while she waits for her flight, so:

MIAMI AIRPORT, IT’S TIME TO OFFER A FREE WIFI OPTION.

Can you sleep while you are on a plane? I have such a hard time falling asleep on a plane. I want to sleep, I need to sleep, but somehow I just can’t relax enough to fall asleep. Maybe it’s because I am too busy being the annoying passenger that gets up every 15 minutes to go pee.

Enjoy the peacock…

Peacock

Arghh!!! Can you believe the airplane had no wifi? When did I morph into this person that expects internet access everywhere? The good news is that I was able to sleep on the plane.

And now your Friday Fortune Cookie
(don’t forget to add “in bed” at the end, if you are so inclined):

You aren’t always entitled to what you think you are.

I visited Miami with a Cubana in the aftermath after Katrina. We ate great Cuban food. I know Miami has other food, but my love for Cubans and their food was restored in that trip. Your post brought back fond memories of Miami.

I went with Fisherhubby to an expensive business class hotel while he was taking a class there for work.  I HAD TO PAY EXTRA FOR WIFI – – – $20/day!!!!   I’m not bitter at all,  I’ll just say this:

MR. MARRIOTT IS NOT MY FRIEND.

I hear you and feel your pain on the no free wifi woes.

Never been to Miami but love the food in San Fran.  I think everywhere should offer free WiFi… I mean really!

I’ve never been to Miami I think I’m due for a trip to Florida in the near future! I think we all expect wifi everywhere because you can get it in the randoms of places.

I know, free wi-fi is sometimes very hard to find. Glad you were able to sleep. I seldom if ever fall asleep on the plane. Imagine my 11 hour flight to London. I wanted to sleep and couldn’t.

Sounds like fun. Being a foodie myself, that is usually what I love when I go to a town. Looking forward to hearing more! I couldn’t agree more about the wifi thing. I think every airport is free now.

No I really can’t sleep on a plane. But I’m glad you were able to catch some Z’s. When hubby and I flew from Maryland up to Alaska for the house hunting trip, we only had free Wi-Fi at one airport. Hubby grumbled and said it was a money making scheme… Maybe he’s right??

He’s totally right. It makes no sense to charge for wifi when there are plenty of companies willing to sponsor it if you fill out a survey or watch a commercial.

I can NEVER sleep on a plane.  It’s so frustrating! And I know what you mean about the free wi-fi. I get particularly frustrated when I am at a hotel. Because you could be at a SWANK hotel and get 2 dollar drinks at happy hour and tons of free perks but you have to walk down the street to Panera or Barnes and Noble to get free wi-fi?? Puzzling….
Glad you at well on your trip!
    Best,
    Tina

Yeah, no free wifi at a hotel feel like they are nickle and diming you.

Although I do sleep on planes, I don’t like doing so, because I always wake up with my mouth hanging open or drool running all over the place; it’s embarrassing. Glad you enjoyed your trip! 🙂

I’m so in the needing internet everywhere boat. I will pay for it too, especially on a 6 hour flight. BTW that peacock is so pretty.
