Pa’Lante

September 15 kicks off the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month. It might seem a little odd to start a month-long celebration mid-month, but September 15 was chosen as the starting point because it happens to be the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries. The festivities continue until October 15.

I’m in the mood to celebrate and show some pride. Join me, won’t you? You don’t have to be Latino to celebrate with me. After all, we’re all on this journey together and if you live in the U.S. I’m sure you can see the many wonderful contributions that Latinos have made and continue to make.

Blogging has put me in touch with so many wonderful Latinas that live their life proudly, profoundly, and inspire me. They wear their intelligence, creativity, and passion on their sleeves. I’m really excited to tell you about one particular Latina and how she has channeled her Latina pride.

Candace Cintron started Pa’Lante Apparel and, in her words, her site is dedicated to…

“…all Latinas who share with me pride and honor in being a Latina. Ever since I can remember I have always been so proud to be a Latina, proud of our culture, our people, our music and of everything that embodies the pure definition of ‘orgullo latino’. I want to pass on this enjoyment and share it with Latinos worldwide who day after day continue to grow and evolve.”

She turned her orgullo into a line of apparel that is fun and represents. She sent me an awesome Spanglish Heart T-shirt and Corazón Latino tote, which I love.

Spanglish Heart

Corazon tote

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, I get to give one of you the following awesome items…

This is a special month, and I join in the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. I don’t fb or tweet but I am excited for the winner whoever it may be. You are a wonderful example of a Latina.

Here’s a go-to question.  Latina vs. Latino  is that a gender difference?
