Dear (insert name of person reading this here – that would be you),
Unknown Mami is feeling out of sorts. Normally, on Mondays she does a post called, “I Comment Therefore I Am”, but she has not left any witty or insightful comments in the last week because she has not been feeling particularly witty or insightful. “I Comment Therefore I Am” will be back next week.
She would like to thank all the wonderful people who have stopped by and left her such supportive and kind comments. Please know that your words have touched her. Your kindness has not gone unnoticed.
Aside from being excused from this installment of “I Comment Therefore I Am”, she would also like to be excused from P.E. She is not on her period, but might as well be considering the mood she’s in.
Signed,
Unknown Mami in the third person.

I'm sorry you're in a funk, and I'm sorry about your job. All Mamis get out of sorts sometimes, but losing your job probably compounds it. I hope you don't get your period for awhile, since that always makes me feel worse. 😉 Sending you lots of hugs and prayers!

I was just gonna ask how you were doing? 🙂 hope you are relaxing!

I remember having the opportunity to be excused from PE by taking a “P” day. The P stood for period, which for some reason was so humiliating for me to admit as a high school student that I never took one. Anyway, I just want you to know that I really hope you are feeling better soon. I'll be sending lots of happy vibes your way.
SuziCate says
SuziCate is hoping Unknown Mami is feeling better soon. She knows being under the weather sucks!

Aw. There's a line from the Simpsons that I paraphrase all the time: “Please excuse Lisa from gym because she is sad.” Sounds like it might be a fit…

Dear Umami,
It's been called to our attention that you deserve a break today, but since McDonalds ending that campaign years ago – sorry you are (as they say) a day late and a dollar short.
Please do not despair because you have built a large support network willing to pass along well wishes.
So hoping that only rainbows fill your view (oh that pot of gold was taken long ago) and music fill your ears.
the management.

Excused! And OH! Did your mom make you dictate your own excuse letters when you were young too? My mom's English is loads better now, but back in the day . . . Pues ya sabes.

OMG in H.S I so used the period excuse EVERY week. My gym teacher must have thought I had a major hemorrhaging problem….. though sometimes I did switch it up with “I forgot my uniform”… That was always a fun twist.

Hoping you are 100% in no time! XO!

What can I add other than it's a real bummer knowing you're going through a bummer period (no pun intended).
I've taken up the gauntlet of attempting “I Comment”, which I wanted to post three weeks ago but got sidetracked. Today is Wednesday, but what the hell—I'm posting it today and would like your expert opinion.
Get well, UM.
