They Still Need Help Putting the Star on the Tree

Decorating for Christmas

Christmas tree star

For as long as I can remember, getting a Christmas tree and decorating it has brought me so much joy. When I was a child, my mother would let me pick out the tree, then we would come home and she would let me decorate it. Normally, my mother can be very particular and kind of bossy (sorry mom, but it’s true), but not when it came to decorating the Christmas tree. She must have seen the happiness that decorating the tree gave me because she’d let me decorate it however I wanted. I always thought I did a phenomenal job, but in retrospect I’m sure many of my trees looked wonky.

This is the first year that both of my daughters are old enough to decorate the tree by themselves while I sit back and watch the joy it brings them, which of course brings me joy times infinity. We got a tree that wasn’t too tall so that my eldest was able to decorate the top half and my youngest could focus on the bottom half. They did a great job and they did it all by themselves. The only part they still needed help with was putting the star on top of the tree. Soon they won’t even need help with that.

If all I get for Christmas is enjoying the smell and sight of the Christmas tree my daughters so happily decorated, then I will consider myself blessed because I am.

I have to admit that I am very particular. My husband always shares the story about when the kids were young they would put ornaments on the tree and I would move them after they went to bed. I don’t remember decorating the tree when I was young. I’m guessing my mom was the same way!

Well, you’ve got a whole system over there, so it takes a lot more planning than how we slap a tree together. Your home should be open to the public for tours once your trees are up.
