Week 5 of My Shelter in Place Travels

Shelter in place travels by Claudya

Greetings from San Francisco where we have been sheltering in place for over a month now. Schools here are closed for the rest of the school year and my daughters have started their distance learning routines. My husband hasn’t returned to work. I continue to work from home and when I have a bit of spare time, I take off on some shelter in place travels with the help of my imagination and photo editing apps.

Here are the places I went to this week …

On Day 28, I went to Costa Rica with the hubs and met this cutie.

Day 28 of shelter in place in San Francisco: Wanna go out on a limb and guess where hubby and I went for today’s imaginary travels? The gorgeous keel-billed toucan or tucán pico arcoiris we’re hanging out with is a clue. We’re in Costa Rica, where you can find all kinds of gorgeous toucan-like birds chillin’ in nature! My husband who is naturally a very outdoorsy kind of person and not a homebody at all has been missing nature, so I thought we could take a quick virtual jaunt to the Republic of Costa Rica in Central America because from what I’ve heard it is a nature-lover’s paradise. Get this: Costa Rica comprises only about .03 percent of the planet’s surface, but it is home to 5 percent of the entire planet’s existing biodiversity. Maybe that’s why “pura vida” is a popular saying and way of life in the country. Disclaimer: Objects in picture are larger or smaller than they appear. If you missed my "travel in place" visits around the world, visit my profile to check 'em out. And stay tuned for my continuing imaginary travels while we all cope with this pandemic and shelter in place. ⠀ Also, I'm taking requests. Where would you like to see me travel while I shelter in place? Let me know in the comments and I'll see if I can make it happen. #shelterinplacetravels

On Day 33, I headed to the canyons in Arizona.

Day 33 of Shelter in place in San Francisco: Today’s imaginary travels take me to Antelope Canyon, which is on Navajo land in Arizona. I’ve always wanted to visit the canyons in Arizona and hopefully some day I will get to do so in person. This last week of sheltering in place has been difficult for me. I’ve cried a lot and had panic attacks. Falling asleep at night is a struggle. I know I have many things to be grateful for and I am grateful, I am also scared. That’s the thing about feelings, you can have more than one of them at a time. We’ve been sheltering in place for over a month now and although it has been tough, it has also helped me feel safe. Soon, the country will start slowly “re-opening” and it worries me, it makes me feel unsafe. I have absolutely no desire to have my family out and about. I’d rather keep them safe at home until coronavirus and COVID-19 are a distant memory. Even if we as individuals don’t get sick or know anyone who has gotten sick, this is a collective trauma that we are all going through. Let’s keep that in mind as we go forward. Let’s remember to be patient with ourselves and others. We will be healing from this for a very long time. For now, I continue to shelter in place and use my imagination to travel this beautiful world of ours. If you missed my "travel in place" visits around the world, visit my profile to check 'em out. I send you love! #shelterinplacetravels
