My family and I were offered complimentary tickets to visit Sonoma Raceway this weekend. We were all pretty excited since none of us had ever been to any kind of racing event. We got up earlyish as we live in San Francisco, which is about 45 minutes away from the racetrack, and traffic can get a tad heavy. I’ll tell you what though, the spectator gates opened at 9:00 a.m., we got there around 9:30 a.m. and had no issues with traffic.
I had no idea that it’s like a WHOLE event when you’re there and that all the action isn’t on the track itself. The place is huge, it’s even got a freakin’ campsite with a carousel. Before you even get into the actual raceway there are rows and rows of vendors to check out and lots of giveaway opportunities. This weekend there was a whole “Cars 3” exhibit that was VERY popular with the kids.
It was loud, it was fun and we had a great time.
