Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the success of others takes nothing away from you, that success is not in limited supply.
What’s the definition of success? You tell me. Success is different for everyone.
To me success means:
- Having all of my family’s basic needs (i.e. food, shelter, clothing, health) met.
- Living a creative life.
- Loving and being loved.
- Always learning something new.
- Being proud of the choices I make.
- Being grateful for what I have.
- Never giving up.
- Striving to be better.
- Allowing myself to fail because success is never really instant.

You have a healthy and mature view of success….and good for you for giving it the kind of thought you have.

Thank you! I think I was reminding myself.

I like that your list does not have money, titles or stuff in it.
However –
” that the success of others takes nothing away from you” – NOT always –
the success of thief can rob you blind.
unknownmami says
I don’t consider a thief successful. I’ve been mugged at gunpoint and although that person caused serious damage, they are anything but successful.

I wrote that in my not too serious frame of mind. You are right. Success does NOT come from creating victims. Being the victim of con man which happened to a family member recently is tough to forget. So sorry if I was being a little too flippant.
unknownmami says
I didn’t take it as flippant. No worries.

Love these quotes!!

Thanks. I’ve been voting for you!
Classic NYer says
Success is waking up, doing exactly what you want to do all day, and then having a glass of wine before bed.

I share your view of success, its something I sometimes need to remind myself about… I also try to remember that we all have different ambitions that we work towards. My ambition has never been to be a world famous pop star, so it doesn’t really make sense to compare myself to one, right? My ambition has been to live a fulfilling and happy life with the people I love close to me. And by that standard, I am one of the most successful people I know 🙂

I think I’ll have to bookmark this one – as a reminder to myself when I’m feeling that life isn’t working out as planned. Thank you for this. 🙂

My pleasure. I needed reminding myself. Hence, the post.
