Public Art in San Francisco (Sundays In My City)

Doré vase outside of the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco

“Poème de la vigne” (Poem of the Vine) cast in 1882, a very large bronze vase by Gustave Doré (French, 1832–1883), sits outside of the DeYoung Museum.

The Thinker at the Legion of Honor

“The Thinker” cast around 1904, bronze signed by Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), sits in the courtyard in front of the main entrance to the Legion of Honor.

William McKinley monument by Robert Ingersall Aitken was erected in 1904 in honor of the 25th president who had been killed three years earlier. The monument stands proudly at the beginning of the Golden Gate Panhandle on Baker Street.
