This is a thank you letter to you. Yes, YOU! You with the eyes that are scanning these letters and reading my words. Thank you. Thank you for how much you have changed and enriched my life. It never ever ceases to amaze me that you have provided me with so many opportunities.
Because of you, I’m able to help support my family.
Because of you, I get to travel and experience people and places I might not otherwise be able to.
Because of you, I get to write and commune on a regular basis.
I’m writing this thank you letter to YOU on a plane on my way to LA for an event sponsored by Nestlé of Abuelita Chocolate fame in honor of Día de Los Muertos. I’m going to explore the ways that I can celebrate this holiday with my multicultural-familia, a mi manera. I’m also particularly grateful for the full night of sleep I will enjoy in the hotel room that I was provided with because of you. The least I can do is show you the view from my window.
Make no mistake that the only reason I get to go on this trip is because of YOU. Because of you, my words have relevance to a wider audience than just my immediate circle. Because of you, I am offered these opportunities. Thank you for reading, thank you for sharing, thank you for helping me support my family, thank you for these wonderful adventures you bring my way.

I am sooo jealous – you really must let me (ok, and the others too!) know how you managed to get involved in these arrangements. I have visions of being able to write for money, but no idea where to start.

I really wish that I could tell you exactly how to do it, but I’m not kidding that it happened because of YOU and the other people that read my blog. Someone read it and recommended me for something and that’s how I got my first gig and that is how I have gotten every single one of my gigs: through the generosity of others.
