Why Patchwork Road is a Meaningful Marketplace

I recently learned about Patchwork Road and why they are a Meaningful Marketplace. You see, they are an e-commerce site where you can find products and deals (priced at least 10% off retail) and they’ll donate 10% of the price of the item to a charity that you choose every time you shop. I’ve always loved the concept of giving while shopping; it sort of feels like I’m shopping for a greater good even when I’m just shopping for myself.

The wonderful items that Patchwork Road carries from 31 Bits combine fashion and design to empower the female artisans in Gulu, Uganda who produce their jewelry using 100% recycled paper and other local materials.

Patchwork Road has fashionable as well as functional items available. The Sugar Snap files pictured below will help organize any existing diaper bag, purse, or tote.

Visit the Patchwork Road Meaningful Marketplace or connect with them on Facebook and Twitter.

Currently Patchwork Road is hosting a Get For Giving contest on Facebook. Please visit for a chance to donate $250 in your name to the cause of your choice and $250 for you to spend on Patchwork Road. The contest ends 10/8/2012 so don’t dilly dally.

Do you ever shop from any companies that donate proceeds directly from your purchases to charitable causes?

Interesting idea.  I do wonder what shopping would be like if most of the stores did that.  Buying Girl Scout cookies or the other stuff neighborhood kids peddle for their organizations is similar.

It warms my heart each time I read about an organization being socially responsible. I particularly look for this, and am happy to say that many of the places I shop have a strong initiative in place.

And I am so proud of you, Claudya. So happy to see this post. I’d totally shop there – cuz I wear a lot of stuff like that, you know? 😀 Hugs!

    Good morning!

I really like the idea of those bag organiser file things – no more digging deep to try to find the door keys; no more poking about in corners to locate my pens; no more panicking in case I’ve lost my purse – potentially so many uses!

I’m off to get some right now…

    Happy rest of the week.
    Regards,
    L

I hadn’t heard of it before, but I’ll definitely be checking it out!  I’m all for giving back and if I get something nice in return, well, that’s nice too 🙂
