Hola Chulas y Chulos! This week has kicked mine and my chanclas pompis like you would not believe. We tried to fight back, but eventually gave up and took our chanclazos like the good little hijos de la chanclada that we are. Ni modo. It happens. Sometimes you are the one giving the chanclazos and sometimes you are the one getting them. Moving on, let’s see what this week’s The Flying Chancla Report has in store for you.
- Let’s start off with the Broadway version of “Carpool Karaoke.” It’s been such a crazy week that my chancla and I didn’t even get to watch the whole thing until right before sharing it with you. Soooo good. This made me cry tears of joy and awe. So much talent in one car. It touched my heart, let it touch yours!

I saw this gorgeous sacred heart wood cut out necklace around the neck of my buddy Crafty Chica while she was on Snapchat and she told me it was made by Artgirlcathy and available on Etsy. Well, I bought me one and now my heart is beating impatiently until it arrives.

It’s summer and I’ve been running around in chanclas a lot and tote around more things than usual because both of my girls are out of school and we’re on the quest for everyday adventures. My go-to tote this summer is this lovely sunflower yellow Terra Tote that was gifted to me by the folks at Net Effects Traders. I have to tell you that I get offered a lot of complimentary items and usually I say no because having stuff just to have and promoting stuff just to promote it is NOT my jam, but I said yes to this tote because the story and work behind it is even lovelier than the bag itself.
Here’s the story: this bag was handcrafted by Cambodian women “disadvantaged by economic, physical or social circumstance.” The women are trained and paid fair wages by Net Effects Traders. The bag is crafted from repurposed plastic netting and every bag purchased helps provide mosquito nets to families who need them and might not otherwise get them. Please check out the goods sold at Net Effects Traders and consider making a purchase that helps change lives.ALSO READ: Tortilla Art Is Totally a Thing and It’s Flippin’ Awesome
- My chancla and I would like to leave you with a theory about how Mario Lopez manages to not age.You can laugh all you want, but if you put him next to all his “Saved By the Bell” costars it makes you wonder what he’s doing that they are not. It would also explain why some people think Mario Lopez is sangron. What do you think, could he possibly be a vampire?
Watch the conspiracy video and then see if you don’t cover your neck the next time you are near Mario Lopez.
That’s it for this week’s The Flying Chancla Report. I love you mucho and remember, spread love, not chanclazos!
