The Flying Chancla Report: Manu Chao, Mariachi Camp and Pancho the Vacuum Cleaner

The Flying Chancla Report

Hola Chulas y Chulos! My chancla and I have flip-flopped our way through the internet to find things that our favorite hijos de la chanclada (present company included) will enjoy. Grab your pompis and read on.

  • President Obama dropped his summer playlist on Twitter and everyone’s like “OMAIGA, El Presidente is like so COOL and eclectic.” OK, maybe it’s just me who said that. He’s got a daytime and a nightime playlist because OF COURSE HE DOES.

Been waiting to drop this: summer playlist, the encore. What’s everybody listening to? pic.twitter.com/mqh1YVrycj

I would like to point out one particular song on Obama’s list because my chancla and I think it’s pretty awesome. It’s not new or anything, it’s “Me Gustas Tu” by Manu Chao from 2011. If you’ve never had the pleasure, please give it a listen.

  • Two years ago a young man by the name of Jose Soto started a mariachi summer camp for kids in Santa Rosa, California. Kids ages 9-15 spend three weeks learning to how to play five traditional mariachi songs. The kids in the program don’t have to pay or own an instrument to participate. It’s pretty awesome and I hope it keeps on growing and growing. What a beautiful gift Soto, who is a mariachi himself and a graduate of Sonoma State University, is giving these children and the community. Ajúa!

  • If you are in the market for a new eco-friendly (because it doesn’t use any electicity at all) vacuum cleaner that you can snuggle with and cuddle, then may I recommend you get a Pancho? Press play to see Pancho in action.

That’s it for this week’s The Flying Chancla Report. I love you mucho and remember, spread love, not chanclazos!
