The Flying Chancla Report: Survivor’s Guilt, ‘Hamilton’ on Film and a Long Lost Podcast

Hola Chulas y Chulos. Normally my chancla and I would ask you if you’ve had a good week or speak about the week in a perhaps flippant manner, but this week has been absolutely tragic. What happened in Orlando, Florida to our queer brothers and sisters so many of who happened to be Latino has left us devoid of flippancy. • This video is so intense and touching. I want to hug this man and tell him to let go of the guilt. Survivor’s guilt is hitting him hard. I want him to forgive himself because he did nothing wrong. The only one who did wrong was the shooter.

• The rumors are true! Lin-Manuel Miranda has confirmed that he is leaving “Hamilton” on July 9, but before everyone busts out their pañuelo and starts sobbing because they didn’t get to see Miranda as Alexander Hamilton there is more news. Before Miranda and other cast members take off, the show with the original cast is being filmed. No word on what will be done with the footage or how and when it will be released, but at least it is being preserved. Granted that watching the filmed version of a theater production is never the same as watching it live, but what ya gonna do—force the original cast to never do anything else? That wouldn’t be right

  Oh, and there is more! Miranda says that Hamilton is a role that he plans on revisiting for a very long time. So you never know when he may show up to a performance and step right back into character.
