Tortilla Towels, Tortilla Song and a Celebration of Accents

The_Flying_Chancla_Report-unknownmami

Hola Chulas y Chulos! I hope my favorite hijos de la chanclada are doing well. My chancla and I have another edition of The Flying Chancla Report comin’ right at ya…

  • I don’t know about you, but my chancla and I are VERY big fans of tortillas. We love them. What’s not to love about them? We will gladly pay homage to them in any way we can because they sustain us, so imagine our delight when we found out that you can buy tortilla towels to dry yourself off with after a shower or to take to the beach or pool with you. These towels are big and they look like ginormous flour tortillas.

    Just look at this cuteness!

Check out this video that shows you how you can use the towels to turn yourself into a human burrito, enchilada or even quesadilla.

  • Speaking of tortillas, you must listen to this love song dedicated to them. It is wonderfully funny and the kids singing are so talented. I love the line, “Without tortillas there would be no burritos, without the corn ones there would be no Doritos.”

  • My chancla and I have wanted to share this “Accents” piece by Denice Frohman with you for a few weeks now, but we kept getting sidetracked. As the daughter of a mother with a gloriously thick accent, this piece moves me. It makes me proud of the sound of my mother’s “remixed” English. It’s a celebration of the party that happens in the mouths of so many immigrants. I love it.

That’s it for this week’s The Flying Chancla Report. I love you mucho and remember, spread love, not chanclazos!
