This Remote Listens Better Than My Husband

Soccer on Xfinity

Before I tell you about the remote I’ve fallen in love with, I want you to know that this post is part of a compensated campaign in collaboration with Comcast and #WeAllGrow Latina Network where I get to tell you about some exciting new features Xfinity X1 customers who are big into fútbol get to use this summer.

Now about that tall, dark and handsome remote pictured above!

No offense to my husband–I love you, BOO!–but I met a remote that is a WAY better listener than he is.

This remote is such a good listener that it will listen to me in English or in Spanish and it can even understand my mom, who has a heavy accent when she speaks in English. That’s WAY more than my husband can do.

For starters, he doesn’t speak Spanish so he only listens to me when I speak in English and let’s face it, sometimes he’s not really listening. And when my mom talks to him there are times when he just can’t understand what she’s saying because of her accent so he smiles and nods politely all the while looking confused and wondering what it is that he is agreeing to.

But not this remote!

Xfinity remote

As Al Pacino in “Scarface” would say, “Say hello to my little friend.” And, yes, I made the reference to that particular scene in “Scarface” because this remote is KILLER.

I met the new Xfinity remote a few weeks back at an event hosted by Xfinity and #WeAllGrow Latina, where Bay Area Latina bloggers gathered to learn more about the soccer championship coverage perks available to X1 customers this year.

Here’s a little of what went down at the event:

I made new friends. Here I am with the lovely Claudia Candelas, whom I had never met in person before.

I got to catch up with longtime friends

Ana Flores and Claudya Martinez

Ana Flores, founder of #WeAllGrow Latina and CHANGEMAKERS Collective, is someone I’ve known and admired since I first started blogging back in 2009. She lives in Southern California, so I don’t get to see her much, so it was an extra special treat to connect with her in person.

And then it was time to taco bout it

Let's Taco Bout It

Taco bout what, you ask?

Talk about new features available for Xfinity X1 customers that make watching soccer this summer all kinds of fun.

Features like:

  • That gorgeous bilingual remote I told you about that is a better listener than my husband.
  • Screens, menus and voice commands available in both English and Spanish.
  • Integrated coverage from Telemundo and FOX with full-game replays, highlights, web video, real-time analytics and on-screen player and team stats.
  • The ability–for the first time ever–to receive notifications on your phone or TV letting you know when your favorite team is about to play.

Clearly, I was very impressed by the remote, but check out this video recap of the event to see what else I thought was super and what everyone else thought.
