A Family That Votes Together Hopes Together

My chest is aching as I write this. Aching from the tension and anxiety that I feel about the election. It’s November 8 and finally this nightmare before Thanksgiving will come to an end, but who knows what we’re in for afterward.

I care VERY much about this election, but I haven’t voted yet. Why? Because voting is a family event for us and I’m waiting for my husband to get home from work so we can walk to our polling place with our two daughters who are too young to vote.

We’ve been taking our daughters to vote with us ever since they were born. By the time they are old enough to vote, I want it to be second nature. Like, “Of course I’m gonna vote!” None of this, “Oh, but my vote doesn’t count.” I am teaching them that the only time their vote doesn’t count is when they don’t vote.

Anyway, in order to pass the time and alleviate the stress I feel on this election day I went to social media to find pictures of families that vote together. Somehow seeing all these beautiful families voting together gives me hope for the future.

I love your idea of voting together. Since my husband travels so often we have been voting by mail ever since our children were young.
