I get pitches for the blog a regular basis. Some are great, some are not. Some are a good fit, some don’t fit at all. I received the funnies pitch I’ve ever gotten the other day and it was funny because it wasn’t meant to be funny. I love to share funny, so you know I gotta share this one…
Dear Claudya,
We are currently looking for bloggers to participate in a product review of high-quality horse feed.By any chance do you have a horse? If so, let me know because we would love to have you participate in this project.
Thank you!
I just laughed and laughed when I read it because I just couldn’t be any more of a city girl and because living in San Francisco, I don’t even have a parking space, much less room for a horse. I may have also made some tasteless jokes to friends comparing my husband to a horse. I couldn’t help myself, the setup was irresistible. Still, I have to say that when I responded that I did not have a horse, the rep was very cordial and I hope some day we do work together on something that is a better fit. I wish her much luck finding bloggers with horses. I know they are out there, I’m just not one of them.
While I’m on the subject of blogging, please be aware that Google is assassinating Google Reader on July 1, 2013. If you are like me and do most of your blog reading via Google Reader, it’s time to transfer your feeds. Do it now. It’s not hard and I wrote a post to help you out, Google Reader Export: How to Export Your Feeds.
Next week is a biggie for me and I might finally be able to tell you my awesome news (that has nothing to do with being pregnant). I can’t wait!
And now your Friday Fortune Cookie (don’t forget to add “in bed” at the end, if you are so inclined):
Google giveth and Google taketh away.

I nearly lost it when I heard about google reader leaving. I transferred to Feedly.. hoping I can navigate it as well. Sighs..
unknownmami says
Maybe I’ll check out Feedly too. I haven’t settled on anything yet and now I’m afraid to put all of my eggs in one basket so to speak.
Eva Gallant says
I created the zip file, but I’m not sure where to go from there.
unknownmami says
Do you know what reader you want to transfer to?

I’m in mourning over the demise of Google Reader. And I haven’t found a place I like as much, yet.
Dorothy in Oz says
Google tried to take away my blog account last night! I don’t use Google Reader but I am not happy with them right now!
unknownmami says
What?! Oh you are going to have to give me more details. That is terrifying. Why would they try to take your blog account away?
lisleman says
Hey give that rep my URL. I’m still rocking the horse the kids had in the basement. I bump into once in awhile and it starts rocking. I might be able dig up a “My Little Pony” if I looked hard enough.
You could become a SF sensation if you brought a horse home.

Oh I forgot to ask – are you concerned about feedburner being dropped? I don’t think much goes out through feedburner but I did sign up long ago. I guess that’s next to go.
unknownmami says
Yes, I am concerned about Feedburner being dropped and if I were more proactive, I would do something about it. I have a couple of thousand subscribers via Feedburner, so it would suck a bit, but whatever will be will be. It’s a lesson not to build your audience on someone else’s platform.

I have switched readers today to Feedly… it seems to be OK. I just hope I’ve done the switch right and don’t lose all my subscriptions when Google Reader kills itself!
unknownmami says
There is no way I could manually resubscribe to everything. I have too many subscriptions.

Oh this is a sad sad day! Just when you start to feel like you have a handle on your blog and lovely readers they throw a big curve ball at you! 🙁 Pouting.
In other news, bad pitches can help lighten your day
kelly thompson says
that made me chuckle, the kicker is if you did end up with a parking space and the horse and wished you had said yes!
Mrs4444 says
I don’t appreciate pitchers that pretend to have actually read my blog; I much prefer the ones who don’t bother to B.S. me. Trying to think of a blogger I know who has horses, but I’m coming up empty, too.
When I have time to read blogs, I start with FF, then consult the spreadsheet I created a while back; they can’t take that away from me! (I hope.)

I always get a kick out of your fortunes!
Kathy says
That is too funny!
Bee says
I started using Feedly, but it’s confusing 🙁

Sad day to those people who are very good in blogging! Why google reader? (sigh) But really, you’ve made my day.. very funny article.. 😉
tettelestai says
Hahahaha, too bad they weren’t offering a horse with the feed. I would have offered in a heart beat!! We have room for it, but hubby would faint 😉 “not another critter to feed!”
Thanks to your article about Google Reader, I moved my feeds to Feedly. I like it and it’s fun to use. I am looking forward to your big news! I must not have been the only one to ask about it, eh?? 😉
