It’s Never Too Late To Get New Clothes: Back to School Shopping at Nordstrom Rack

New Kids department at SF Nordstrom Rack

I’ve always been a fan of Nordstrom Rack and I’ve certainly dropped a few of my pennies at the San Francisco store located at 555 9th Street, but it would have never occurred to me to go there for back-to-school shopping because as far as I knew there was no kids’ department there. So when I got an email offering me a complimentary gift card to go shopping and review the brand new Nordstrom kids’ department, I was like…What, they have a kids department now? Do I want to go? Uh, YEAH!

My eldest, Put Pie, had already started going to kindergarten when we went on our little shopping spree, but it’s never too late to get new clothes. I picked her up from school one day and zipped over to Nordstrom Rack and right away I spotted the new kids’ section. It was easy to find and although it’s a compact section, there was quite a bit to choose from and in no time we had put together a few outfits.

Put Pie’s, absolute favorite item is the Hello Kitty dress by WEEPLAY, which we got for $14.97 (SCORE). I am particularly fond of the skinny polka dot jeans by Tractor, which my clever kid paired with a tunic top and leopard baseball cap that she already owned. Another great find was the light pink cardigan that you see her wearing with both the Hello Kitty dress and the tank dress with faux necklace detail. That pink cardigan ends up working well with every item we bought and is super easy to put in her backpack for the sometimes chilly San Francisco days.

Put Pie is really into wearing dresses with leggings right now, so we were also excited to get her the striped hooded dress and the tank top with attached skirt that you see pictured above.

Our whole shopping trip took less than 30 minutes; we got 4 dresses, one cardigan, and one pair of jeans for about $130; and the store has free parking, which is a score in and of itself in San Francisco. Now, I don’t have boys, but you should know that the kids’ department also has clothing for children of the male persuasion or girls who like to shop in the boy’s section because that’s totally alright too.

I’d also like to mention that one of the great things about shopping for your kids at a store that carries clothes that you love is that you can’t be blamed if you happen to buy something for yourself as well.

If you’re a fan of Nordstrom Rack, like to pay significantly below retail, and have kids…GO!!!
